Job description

 

Area engineer - Operations shall carry out the following:

1. Take charge of the location assigned to him by SCE and relieve the previous shift engineer.

2. Report the status of the system to CRE / SCE at the shift beginning and end.

3. Take care of the location in his shift by constant watch of equipment and system in the area. In case of abnormalities/defects inform CRE/SCE and take corrective measures in accordance with the laid down procedure.

4. Fill log sheets / books and maintain them.

5. Do the necessary isolations as per SCE / CRE to enable issue of PTW and also carry out Normalization of the systems after cancellation of the permit.

6. Ensure the cleanliness of the area, safety, and availability of fire extinguishers.

7. Be prepared to handle the plant emergencies in effective way.

8. Take care of his Sponsorship area in addition to his regular activities.

9. Maintain the documentation system as and when assigned by SCE.

10. Check and ensure the safety measures taken by the permitee while on job. Also maintain environmental parameters.

11. Raise work requests on defects in equipments and systems.

Safety Responsibility

  1. To maintain safe working conditions in the work area.
  2. Take responsibility of the staff and contract workers working under his supervision.
  3. To maintain a target of zero accident.
  4. Ensure that MCPs / OCPs/ MCRs / OCRs / MMCPs / MMCRs / SOPs are followed as required under ISO-45001
  5. Take appropriate corrective / preventive action for Non-conformances raised / observed.
  6. To take part in internal audits both as an internal auditor / auditee and ensure compliance of schedule.

Environment Responsibility

  1. Spread environmental awareness among his staff and contract workers working under his supervision.
  2. Not to flout environmental regulations in his work area.
  3. Improve upon the existing environmental standards as a responsible citizen.
  4. Ensure that MCPs / OCPs/ MCRs / OCRs / MMCPs / MMCRs / SOPs are followed as required under ISO 14001
  5. Take appropriate corrective / preventive action for Non-conformances raised / observed.
  6. To take part in internal audits both as an internal auditor / auditee and ensure compliance of schedule.

Responsibilities during general shift

  1. Carry out condition monitoring jobs.
  2. Carry out and assist in performance monitoring.
  3. Undertake training activities and presentations.
  4. Act as Leave reserve

Responsibilities of a Sponsor

  1. Review and taking over of a specific defined system.
  2. Preparation of start up, normal, shutdown, and emergency procedures.
  3. Maintaining the history of the system and troubleshooting.
  4. Suggest, recommend and help in implementing modifications.
  5. During shutdowns help in maintenance activities.
